Scultura acustica per tre fiumi

Belinda Guerriero: testi e voce
Luigi Turra: suono

Luigi Turra ha pubblicato per le etichette Non Visual Objects (AT), and / OAR (US), Room40 (AU), LINE (US), Dragon’s Eye Recordings (US), Trente Oiseaux (DE) e 901 Editions (IT).

Acoustic sculpture for three rivers

Belinda Guerriero: lyrics and voice
Luigi Turra: sound

MÉLAN HỲDŌR (from the ancient Greek dark water) is a work for three voices and three texts inspired by the confluence of the rivers Inn, Ilz and Danube near the city of Passau in Germany. The three rivers come from different cardinal points and when they join in the Danube, for a long stretch it is possible to clearly distinguish the respective strips of water of different colors; it is a chemical and physical phenomenon dictated by the fact that along the way their waters have been enriched with sediments coming from soils with different compositions.
MÉLAN HỲDŌR is the acoustic representation of this meeting between waters, between geographies, in which words and sound, voices and languages overlap and mix, melting into an ever changing flow.

«The idea of these three elements that come from different parts of Europe, which start out distinct and then mix at the chemical, temperature, mineral but also cultural level was the starting point for the creation of this work.
The texts, inspired by water, speak of the mixture of different cultures, of the discomfort of the abyss, of descending into the black and icy depths and returning to the surface, of letting go; there is a poetic aspect linked to the concept of water as life.
Sound, text and voice adapt to the listening space just as rivers adapt to stones and mineral debris in a timeless change. » (L.T.)

Its poetic aim is to reduce the signs to a minimum to reduce them to their archetypes.
